Whether you’re flying into Gatwick for business or for pleasure, you are certainly going to want to rent a car for the duration of your stay; the benefits outweigh the rental costs by far. If you are visiting for a lovely sightseeing tour of London without a car you will only be able to follow certain routes around the attractions – you may have a plan of your own, and you may want to see some less famous attractions rather than sticking to Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. A car really comes into its own here. You can drive around London pretty much worry free (apart from the odd congestion or toll charge) and see those sights off the beaten track.

On the other hand, if you are visiting London on business you may wish to hire a car to scout out important routes and locations in the area before your meetings on consequent days. For example, you may need to drive around looking for that perfect eatery to take an important client out for lunch tomorrow. It is simply not enough to turn up to the restaurant without visiting beforehand to check that it is of adequate quality, and that the menu is conducive to a business meeting – you do not want to turn up to a greasy cafe! You will also need to drive around to find the easiest route to your meeting – congestion in London can be just terrible, and sometimes you simply cannot afford to be late.
